Cash Bonds: What You Need to Know

A cash bond is a type of payment made to secure the release of an individual from custody before their court appearance. Once the case has been resolved and the individual has appeared in court as required, the cash bond is typically returned to the person who posted it, minus any fees or court costs that may have been deducted. However, if the individual fails to appear in court as required, the cash bond may be forfeited, meaning the person who posted it may lose the full amount.
